One Last Post

It is with a broken heart that I post this on Cathy's behalf. She passed away Sunday January 8th, 2023.

She will be missed in this life greatly. She loved making stuff for others. She was always willing to help teach for friends of her kids (she wasn't ever warned) her daughters were great at using the phrase "oh you want to learn how to knit, crochet, sew etc. My mom can teach you let's go see her. <3

Warm Hearts~Warm Babies Donations - 2016

This is some of what went into my donation drop off in Feb. 2016:

39 pairs of booties

3 sweaters.  I use this pattern a lot - it's the only one I know of that uses heavy yarn for baby clothes.

This is a scrap afghan using the thermal stitch and worsted weight yarn.

Dresses 2016

I sewed dresses for all 3 granddaughters.  Alexandra spent the weekend, so I got pictures of her.  Dean is supposed to get me pictures of Scarlett and Riley.

Rita's Projects 2015-16

After Rita (Vae's Mom) passed away in Oct. 2015, Vae brought me some unfinished projects, and yarn that Rita had in her craft basket.  You can't just finish someone else's work because of individual tension.  So I took the projects apart and let the yarn relax.  Rita had kept her patterns with the projects, so I could complete them.

This first afghan is using the pattern stitch that Rita had chosen.  I added green to make it more neutral (it was really girl colored before) and added white to brighten it.  I've used the pattern stitch many times before and call it "thermal."

I had enough yarn left after the thermal one (thermal uses 1-1/2 times more yarn than a regular afghan) to try something new:  Gingham!

This is a shoulder bag.

There were several worsted weight skeins of various colors that Rita hadn't used; there wasn't enough for any of the afghan patterns that were in her basket.  So I turned them into baby sweaters.

This one was given to Gabriella.

These 10, I donated to Warm Hearts~Warm Babies.

There were several skeins of cotton yarn that I turned into hot pads and washcloths for Benny and Jordan.

After I finished the yellow/pink/blue afghans, I turned the leftovers into 26 pair of baby booties (most of them are going to Warm Hearts).
